Since the late 1800’s Werthan Mills factory has been an icon of the historic district and represents a wealth of history and legacy in Nashville. We are pleased to present the Lofts at Werthan Mills. The Lofts at Werthan Mills are Nashville's entry into the world of urban lofts. The Old Mill and wings, located at 1400 8th Avenue North, will be reconstructed into urban loft apartments. The former Werthan Bag Factory is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as the Tennessee Manufacturing Company. The original Werthan Mills consists of three major complexes. The main building (the "Old Mill") is the oldest and largest of the three complexes and was built in 1871. The "New Mill" was completed 11 years later. The other wings were added to the complex in the early 20th Century.

The "Old Mill", which is also known as the Hume Street building, consists of 4 stories plus an attic and a basement, with each floor containing 13,941 sq. ft. The Hume Street building was originally built as a cotton mill in 1871 and is on the historic register. There are other wings off the main one, containing an additional 46,000+ sq. ft.

The enormous open spaces will offer a variety of sizes for lofts, that can be custom designed. The architectural/Design firm, Polifilo, and architects David Powell and Patrick Avice de Buisson, are working to create exciting common area space and unique interior design choices.
