There is plenty to do in Belle Meade. The highest quality is necessity, so be prepared to be wowed by the activities offered. Revolving art exhibits at Cheekwood mansion and gardens, where tours are available for a few dollars, served as the only museum for art-hungry Nashvillians before the downtown Frist Center for the Visual Arts was built.

Joggers and couch potatoes alike enjoy the lush, green fields and forested hills of the Warner Parks. Boutiques from the funky to the upscale are good for window-shopping and spending sprees alike, and hobbyists have roamed the aisles at Phillips Toy Mart for decades. Fine dining abounds – yes, you should probably phone ahead. If you're feeling downtown, you won't find a McDonald's along the main drag, but there is a Krystal's.

For those who want a walk in the past there are several historical homes to visit. For a nominal fee, you can head to an Antebellum Mansion, Belle Meade, which dates back to 1853. On site, you can visit the mansion, a 1790's Dunham Station Log Cabin, 1890's Carriage House and stables, view an Antique Carriage Collection, and Seven other Historic Outbuildings. Don't forget to grab a bite to eat in Belle Meade Mansion's Restaurant. Their critically acclaimed chef is sure to please. Belle Meade has a rich, vibrant history. In the latter half of the 19th century Belle Meade was one of the most important nurseries for thoroughbred racing horses. Nearly every Kentucky Derby winner, since then, can trace their linage back to Belle Meade. Many of the homes can be traced back from generation to generation. The Belle Meade Mansion was an important stronghold during the Civil War.
